Poetry

Yesterday as a class, we briefly went over poetry and how we interpret poetry. These were some of the points that were brought up as a class.

  • Poetry is a way of telling a story in a different way
  • Poetry has many meanings
  • It is a way/interpretation for conveying emotion
  • It has more meaning than a story
  • They generally have a poetic flow, quality of beauty, rhythmic
  • Poetry uses lots of literary devices
  • As a concept, it has depth.
  • Poetry forces you to choose words very specifically - be descriptive in the space that you have
  • Any form of art
Poetry to me is a form of art; I tend to like short and simple ones because they make me think and guess, which for me is the whole point of art. To perceive it differently from others with no right or wrong answer. I don't necessarily see poems as 5 verse acrostics or texts that are centered in the middle of the page with the same opening sentences with a lot of rhyming, don't get me wrong I really don't mind those. But to me I think a poem could be a single word, or a sentence. Unlike a story it does not have to make sense or lead anywhere and that gives poetry the essence of wonder.

This is a great video, it is quite long and is very touching hope you enjoy it:

Universe

I understand that I've done a few video posts and this is another one.. but this one to me is a little different. I don't know whether it's the fact that I am blown away that there are nine year olds who think like this or just because the stuff he says is very similar to the things I wonder. I don't know whether many people will take a look at this video but if you do end up watching please do share your thoughts.
It's not everyday that we think about our universe (with a few exceptions of course), but I do believe that we are so consumed with our day to day lives filled with social media that we don't even bother to think about the things this boys wonders.

Visual writing prompts 'The blue door'

The box. The door. The crumbling brick. It begged for me to enter. The rigid road crumbling beneath my feet with every step I take. My hand reluctantly raising towards the nob. I clench the door nob as if it's the only thing that will save my life. Click. The battered blue door opens with a creak. Slowly raising my head to take a look. The dust descending from the ceiling. The light seeping through the gaps as if they were guiding me in. I take a step. Then 2. And then the 3rd. I look up squinting my eyes. My jaw drops.

Dengue Alert

There have been a number of dengue cases in singapore recently, and I actually got dengue fever myself. Please do take care and watch out. Make sure you get rid of any still water around you and change it regularly as they like to lay eggs in these. Make sure that if your not using the toilets at home regularly you flush them at least once a day to get the water flowing. Play your own part no matter how small that may be.

Man U vs. Liverpool

It's not often that I post things about football, but just out of curiosity who do you think is going to win?? The red devils or The Reds??
Will Hernandez or RVP slip one in at the last minute? Or will Suarez get there first?

Not Yellow.

It has been a very long time since my last post, well a personal post anyway. I have been struggling to write blog posts and I feel like I'm slowly drowning in the blogging world so I thought to myself I should start finding things that I like, post them and ask people for opinions. So after a lot of thinking I came up with these 3 things: Photos/Photography, Strange facts/Scientific facts and Sports. So from now on I would like to post as many things as I can and see what others think about them.

So as start I would like to introduce you to a You Tube channel. Whether I'm doing homework, searching things on you tube or maybe just listening to music I always seem to come across this one channel. Many might have already viewed this channel before but it is called Vsauce.

The Vsauce channel is full of videos and it includes a variety of strange and complicated scientific facts.

THIS IS NOT YELLOW

By now many of you must be very confused...

In a computer screen the only light it actually produces is red, blue and green light------------->

so the only actual yellow we see are in real life 3D objects...

Here is the video, go check it out for more detail Enjoy: Vsauce

The video also includes some other facts so please take a look, I will also be posting more of these and the 2 other topics regularly.
